My classroom provides specialized instruction and support in the areas of language and communication, social skills, academics, and self-advocacy for students with special needs in grades 9–12. A low teacher-to-student ratio allows for individualized programming with a strong emphasis on real-world transition skill development within a sensory-informed, inclusive learning environment established in 2013 through the PATTAN Project AACHIEVE initiative, particularly supporting students with autism. In addition to my role as a classroom teacher, I serve as the high school Transition Coordinator, supporting students and families in planning for post-secondary education, employment, and independent living. I also incorporate a certified therapy dog into the school setting to support students' social-emotional regulation, engagement, and overall well-being.
Important information and updates are shared through my Google Classroom, including weekly announcements related to school activities, schedules, and community events.
