Science National Honor Society

Tamaqua Area High School is proud to recognize our district affiliated Science National Honor Society! Established in 2000, the organization aims to achieve the following objectives:

  • Encourage and recognize scientific and intellectual thought.
  • Advance Students' knowledge of classical and modern science.
  • Communicate with the scientific community.
  • Aid the civic community with its comprehension of science.
  • Encourage students to participate in community service and in turn, encourage a dedication to the pursuit of scientific knowledge that benefits all of humankind.

Junior and senior students are eligible for invitation if they meet the following criteria:

  • Enrolled in a minimum of 2 or more honors, AP, or dual enrollment science courses since entering grade 9 at TAHS.
  • Maintain an overall unweighted GPA of 3.0 (86%) or better.
  • Maintain an overall science course unweighted GPA of 3.5 (93%) or better.
